Sandy Wijaya was born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Talking about photography, we need turning the time back to unveil his childhood memory, his parents frequently brought him while they are travelling; they open his eyes to see how magnificent and beautiful the Indonesia is. At that time nor he or his parents have a camera to capture beautiful places that they have visited. For several times Sandy tried to re-draw his favorite scene or place, yet it did not satisfy him until he decided to shift media into photography.
Sandy who had the educational background of Law, started photography career in 2001 by self-taught, he was studied basic technical and philosophic understanding of photography and art through a variety of literatures. In 2011 he joined the Perhimpunan Amatir Foto (PAF) Bandung, Indonesia's oldest photo club since 1924. Sandy has achieved various prestigious accolades in the sphere of photo art both at national and international level.
In 2012, he obtained AFIAP (Artist of FIAP) distinction from Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (FIAP). Sandy became one of celebrated photographer in Indonesia since he was awarded the prestigious degree of Examinee of FPSI (E.FPSI), following a successful photographic examination held by the Federation of Photographic Society of Indonesia (FPSI). For three years, he was holding a key position in FPSI as a General Secretary. Besides became tutor in worldwide photography trip, he is actively giving seminars and workshops worldwide.
Beside his lifetime passion to capture the beauty of waterfalls in Indonesia, Sandy quite often wanders to various exotic countries around the world especially in the Himalaya and Asia. Ventured on road less travelled, in pursue of enchanting lights and to be on the scent of one’s culture. His aspirations lead him far away from home to visit many wondrous places in Middle East and Europe.
